About Me
I am a 23-year-old law student from Croatia, and in my spare time, I write poetry. When crafting haiku, I don’t adhere to a specific theme but write about whatever subject, moment, or event captivates me, one that I believe deserves to be immortalized in verse. I find haiku to be one of the most beautiful forms of poetry, as it allows countless emotions and images to be conveyed in just 17 syllables. For this reason, I compose them in a contemporary style, not strictly adhering to traditional themes of nature.
My Story
My love for poetry dates back to my high school days when, during Croatian language classes, I would delight in analyzing the works of some of the most renowned and significant poets of all time. One poem that particularly stuck with me is Farewell by Federico García Lorca, which, in just a few verses, powerfully speaks to the transience of life, while perfectly capturing the present moment. I am deeply inspired by modern poetry, as it marked a significant shift compared to earlier literary periods, particularly in its redefinition of what a poem can be. Although it's difficult for me to list all the poets who inspire me, I would highlight André Breton, Charles Baudelaire, Arthur Rimbaud, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
